LUCIA IN CINEMAS

MESSAGE TO THE WORLD
The internationally reknowned cellist Pau Casals composed an oratorio with a clear message of peace, faith and hope: El Pessebre (The Manger). Tomorrow at 7pm, this piece will be heard at the Liceu, conducted by the Music Director of the company Josep Pons. You cannot miss this beautiful piece! Get your tickets here.

GRAN TEATRE DEL LICEU, BARCELONA
A new episode starts in his career as a répétiteur: from today, Rodrigo will be working at the prestigious opera house in Barcelona, the Gran Teatre del Liceu. During this current season, Rodrigo will work on productions of operas Benvenuto Cellini (Berlioz), Lucia di Lammermoor, Simon Boccanegra, I Capuleti e i Montecchi and La bohème. MORE DETAILS ABOUT BYO
As previously announced, you can get your ticket for the Double Bill of operas Riders to the Sea and Sāvitri here. With that same ticket you will be able to attend the pre-show talk, run by the assistant director of the double bill Rosie Purdie and Rodrigo de Vera. This will happen prior to each performance, at 6.15pm. Besides, Rodrigo will conduct the Southbank Sinfonia orchestra for his own show: the cover performance. This will take place in the same place as the main shows (Peacock Theatre) in the afternoon of the 11th September, at 1pm. For more information and tickets, click here.

NEW RECORDINGS
The 'audio' section has been updated with new recordings: three opera arias sung by Korean soprano Hye-Youn Lee, which include "Qui la voce... Vien diletto" from Bellini's I puritani, "Crudele?... Non mi dir" from Mozart's Don Giovanni, and "È strano... Ah! fors'è lui... Sempre libera" from Verdi's La traviata. Have a listen and enjoy them!

The Scottish Opera has appointed Rodrigo de Vera as the new Emerging Artist Répétiteur for next season, wich includes titles such as Carmen, Così fan tutte, Ariodante, The Mikado and Rusalka. BRITISH YOUTH OPERA
Rodrigo de Vera has just been offered to work as an Assistant Conductor for the double bill of operas Riders to the sea (Vaughan Williams) and Sāvitri (Gustav Holst) that BYO is offering this summer. Performances will take place on 9th and 12th September at 7.30pm at the Peacock Theatre, in London. Besides, Rodrigo will conduct his own show (cover performance) on 11th September at 1pm. SWEENEY TODD
Following sell-out performances at New York's Lincoln Center, Sweeney Todd: The Demon Barber of Fleet Street comes to ENO. With 14 performances in only two weeks, Rodrigo de Vera will be the organist and keyboardist in this semi-staged production of Stephen Sondheim's gloriously gruesome musical starring Academy Award-winning actress Emma Thompson and international star Bryn Terfel. IN THE FINAL OF THE ROSL
Welsh tenor Joshua Owen Mills is one of the four finalists in the singers section of the Royal Over-Seas League Annual Music Competition. This final round will take place tomorrow 10th February at 7pm at the Over-Seas House in Park Place, London. With Rodrigo de Vera as his accompanist, they will offer works by Liszt, Gounod, Poulenc and Britten. Admission is £15, including a free glass of wine! BACK TO GSA
Rodrigo de Vera will join again the Georg Solti Accademia di Bel Canto as an official répétiteur and vocal coach. This summer course running from the 28th June until the 20th July in Castiglione della Pescaia (Italy), is a great opportunity for young talented singers from all around the world to work on Bel Canto repertoire through individual coachings with the faculty and répétiteurs of the academy, but also through masterclasses with amazing guest artists, which this year includes Barbara Frittoli, Leo Nucci, Silvana Bartoli and Dennis O'Neill.

FUNDRAISING OPERA GALA
The recently created Spanish opera company Opus Lírica will offer a Lyric Gala on the 1st February at the Chamber Hall of the Kursaal in San Sebastian. The aim of this very promising concert is to raise funds for the opera season of the company. Itziar Barredo and Rodrigo de Vera will eventually be the pianists for this event, accompanying 15 singers from all over the Basque Country. CAROLS CONCERT, AND... MERRY CHRISTMAS!!!
The last engagement of the year could not be anything else but a Christmas Carols concert. Tonight at the Montpelier Church in South Croydon, Welsh tenor Joshua Owen Mills and Rodrigo de Vera will offer a selection of carols and other Christmas and love related songs. You can now have your tickets for François Ithurbide's production of Carmen. Conducted by Italian Aldo Salvagno, the performances will take place on the days 15th and 16th of November at 7pm at the Amaia Cultural Centre, in Irun. OFFICIAL ACCOMPANIST
Rodrigo has just been appointed an official accompanist for the XV. Bilbao-Bizkaia International Singing Competition. Running from the 22nd November until the 26th November with almost 100 singers from all over the world, the GRAND FINAL will take place on Saturday 29th November at the Palacio Euskalduna of Bilbao, Spain. RIGOLETTO PRE-SHOW TALK FINALLY ONLINE
On 20th February, the English National Opera offered a pre-performance talk about Verdi's opera Rigoletto. After having to deal with many sound problems, ENO has finally been able to post it on SoundCloud. A very interesting recording with interviews to Sarah Lenton (opera and theatre historian) and Rodrigo de Vera (répétiteur) among others, to discover more about this iconic opera.

BACK TO ENO
One month after finishing his training as a Trainee Repetiteur at the English National Opera, Rodrigo has been offered to return to ENO for two more productions. This time he will work simultaneously on Handel's Xerxes and Puccini's The Girl of the Golden West (La fanciulla del West) for the autumn season 2014-15. SUMMER PROJECTS
Today and for the next three weeks, Rodrigo will join the Georg Solti Accademia di Bel Canto in Castiglione della Pescaia (Italy) as a répétiteur and vocal coach. Right after that, he will travel to Fontainebleau (France), to work during four weeks in an opera workshop called Voix d'été. Exciting summer!

RECORDINGS UPLOADED
The 'audio' section has been updated with two songs, both taken from a live recording of the Wigmore Hall recital offered by Joshua Owen Mills and Rodrigo de Vera last month. The pieces are I' vidi in terra from Tre Sonetti di Petrarca by Franz Liszt, and Lied aus der Ferne - WoO 137 by Ludwig van Beethoven. Enjoy them!

RODRIGO IN THE West End LIVE
It has just been confirmed that Rodrigo de Vera will take part in West End LIVE, a show in Trafalgar Square that displays the quality and diversity of entertainment on offer in the heart of London. He will accompany tenor Ashley Catling and baritone George von Beigen on the famous duet from Les Pêcheurs de Perles (The Pearl Fishers) by French composer Georges Bizet. RODRIGO DE VERA IN THE NEW OPERA THEBANS
It has just been announced that Rodrigo de Vera will be playing the synthesizer and the celesta in the performances of Thebans, prize-winning British composer Julian Anderson's first opera. With a libretto by Frank McGuinness, this world premiere production will be directed by Pierre Audi, with Edward Gardner leading the orchestra.
